The Coronavirus is in full swing, panic shopping is underway, social distancing is mainstream, so what else can go wrong?! "Never let a crisis go to waste." - All bad guys everywhere, nothing is different for our cyber criminals. Phishing campaigns are on the rise during the crisis to take advantage of unsuspecting new searchers across the globe. Cyber criminals have setup Coronavirus maps that attacked users only to infect the users phones and computers. One such article was from Forbes discussing how spyware is installed on Android phones from a compromised app. The app is on on Google Play but nonetheless the app gives users a feel for a legitimate Coronavirus map. https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2020/03/18/coronavirus-scam-alert-covid-19-map-malware-can-spy-on-you-through-your-android-microphone-and-camera/#711a81d775fd The best advice is to only look to known good websites and install apps only from Google Play or Apple App Store to be better ensures the apps are not malicious. Keeping your computers and phones "hands washed" is as important at this time as keeping your own hands washed. Stay safe out there cyber warriors and until next time, Detect. Defend. Deter.
